Every question we receive from foreign patients before they travel to MenPower Urology, answered honestly.
Citizens of most OECD countries (US, UK, EU, Canada, Australia, Japan, Singapore) can enter South Korea visa-free for up to 90 days under the Korea Electronic Travel Authorization (K-ETA) system or bilateral visa-waiver agreements. If your nationality requires a medical visa, MenPower Urology provides an official invitation letter, procedure booking confirmation, and KHIDI registration documentation for embassy submission. Standard processing is 5–10 business days at most Korean embassies.
Yes — we offer a free 20-minute pre-travel video consultation in English. To make the call clinically productive rather than a generic Q&A, please send your relevant diagnostics beforehand (semen analysis, hormone results, TRUS volume, IPSS score — whatever you have). Dr. Kwon will have reviewed them before the call and will come with a specific recommendation and price quote, not just general information.
It varies significantly by procedure. STD testing: same-day. Adult circumcision: 3–5 days. Premature ejaculation consultation and injection: 2–3 days. LiSWT shockwave therapy (6 sessions): 3 weeks. Penile implant: minimum 10–14 days before flying. Vasectomy reversal: 5–7 days. Prostate UroLift: 5–7 days. We give you a specific recommended stay duration in your pre-consult confirmation email, including a sample day-by-day itinerary.
Dr. Kwon conducts consultations in English and Korean — no interpreter needed for English-speaking patients. We have a dedicated Japanese medical interpreter on staff (available Mon/Wed/Fri) and work with a certified Traditional Chinese medical translator for complex consultations. Korean Sign Language interpretation is available on request. All written materials — consent forms, discharge instructions, recovery guides, invoice records — are prepared in English as standard. Japanese and Chinese versions available for key documents.
Korean National Health Insurance (NHIS) does not cover foreign nationals for elective procedures. However, several international health insurance plans (Cigna Global, Aetna International, Allianz Care, Bupa International) cover pre-authorised elective procedures abroad. MenPower issues itemised invoices in English with CPT and ICD-10 codes suitable for insurance reimbursement claims. Travel insurance policies sometimes cover emergency complications arising from planned procedures — check your policy's "elective treatment abroad" exclusion clause before travelling.
Yes. MenPower Urology operates under Korea's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA, 개인정보 보호법), which is among the strictest medical privacy frameworks in Asia. PIPA applies equally to foreign nationals treated in Korea. Your records are not shared with Korean immigration authorities, Korean customs, your home country's government, employers, or any third party without your written consent. You may request all records, an anonymised copy, or deletion of non-required records at any time. Medical records are legally retained for 10 years per the Korean Medical Service Act.
We accept: USD and EUR bank transfer (account details provided on invoice); Visa, Mastercard, and American Express credit/debit cards (3% foreign transaction fee applies); Korean Won cash; cryptocurrency (BTC, ETH, USDT — settled at time of payment at current rate). For procedures over $5,000 USD, a staged payment plan is available: 30% deposit to confirm booking, remainder at pre-op consultation. Contact us to discuss payment plan terms.
Every post-op patient receives a 24/7 emergency contact card in English that includes: the MenPower WhatsApp emergency line, the address and phone number of Pusan National University Hospital (the nearest full-service English-capable ER, 12 minutes from the clinic), and a summary of their procedure in English and Korean that they can show to any ER physician. For device-related emergencies (priapism, implant malfunction), Dr. Kwon or a covering urologist is reachable directly.
It depends on the procedure and flight duration. After STD testing or circumcision consultation: yes, fly same day. After adult circumcision: 24–48h for short-haul; 5–7 days for long-haul. After vasectomy reversal: 5–7 days; long-haul at day 7+ with compression socks. After penile implant: minimum 10 days short-haul; 14 days + medical clearance for long-haul. After prostate surgery: 5–7 days depending on procedure. We provide a fit-to-fly certificate at the appropriate clearance appointment — airlines and travel insurance providers may request this.
Your 90-day post-op package includes unlimited encrypted video follow-up with Dr. Kwon and our nursing team. For symptoms that require local medical attention, we provide a written English-language clinical summary within 4 hours of your request, suitable for presentation to any physician worldwide. For complications determined to be procedure-related within the first year, MenPower covers the revision surgical cost. We maintain ongoing coordinator relationships with urology departments at major hospitals in the US, UK, Australia, Japan, and Singapore for cases requiring local physical management.
Dr. Kwon writes a prescription letter in English that your home country GP can use to continue the same or equivalent medication. Korean generic medications (sildenafil, dapoxetine, tamsulosin) are typically available in branded or generic form in your home country. For TRT (testosterone replacement), we write a specific Nebido or cypionate protocol letter that most GPs can follow directly. For controlled substances, we can advise on the specific equivalents available in your country to facilitate a seamless handoff.
